Jon Cruddas MP is inviting everyone in Dagenham and Rainham to get involved in this year's UK Parliament Week and join a UK-wide conversation about our democracy, people power and making change happen.

UK Parliament Week is an annual festival organised by the UK Parliament Education and Engagement Team, a service of the House of Commons and the House of Lords which seeks to inform and educate all citizens about the work and role of the UK Parliament.

It will be taking place from 1st to the 7th of November. This year will mark the tenth year of UK Parliament week. It is a great opportunity to be a part of a thriving democracy and look ahead to the next 10 years, thinking about what issues are important to you and how you can work with UK Parliament to bring about change. Those who sign up for UK Parliament Week will be sent a free kit packed with resources, which can be tailored for different organisations.

Virtual Engagement with Parliament

In addition to this, throughout the Autumn term, Parliament's Participation Team are offering a range of online tours, talks and school workshops that are available free of charge.

Daily online, interactive workshops are available for schools and home education groups for pupils aged 7-18. The sessions cover an introduction to how the UK Parliament works, how laws are made and the role of MPs and peers. There are also specialist talks and virtual tours of the Palace of Westminster available. This includes a live presenter guiding attendees through several rooms including the House of Commons chamber, sharing the history of UK democracy and the work of Parliament today. These virtual tours also include a 15-minute question and answer session.

Jon Cruddas MP commented: "this is always an excellent opportunity to educate people about the work that goes on in Parliament and encourage young people to get involved in the political process. Safety measures mean that this year's UK Parliament Week will be a little different, but there are some great online workshops and tours planned so I hope schools across Dagenham and Rainham will participate."
