In December 2013 Dagenham boxing club, with the help of Jon Cruddas MP, local councillors and LBBD finally secured a new lease. Since finalising the terms the club has been very actively sourcing funds to get a 5 year Development Plan off the ground. The new Lease was a key factor in obtaining grant funding. 

Recently the club has secured a £50,000 grant from Sport England, with this the club is planning to start major improvement works.

The number of unemployed claimants in Dagenham and Rainham constituency in February 2014 was 2,440. This represents a rate of 5.0% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 184th highest of the 650 UK constituencies. (1st = highest rate of unemployment, 650th = lowest rate of unemployment.)

Barking and Dagenham College recognised for entrepreneurship excellence

A recently released Ofsted report has commended Barking & Dagenham College for its commitment to students and its support in helping them achieve success.

British Telecom (BT) is widely recognised as one of the UK’s leading apprenticeship providers and has recently been recognised by the Learning Skills Council. BT is constantly working with learning providers across the country to help develop their ever growing apprenticeship scheme.

The number of unemployed claimants in Dagenham and Rainham constituency in March 2013 was 3,584. This represents a rate of 7.4% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 120th highest of the 650 UK constituencies. (1st = highest rate of unemployment, 650th = lowest rate of unemployment.)

The number of claimants is 122 lower than in March 2012 and 3 lower than in February 2013. These data are not seasonally adjusted.

Dagenham and Redbridge FC (The Daggers) are committed to being at the heart of the Local Community and the club is more than just football.

Builddreams Education is an educational, training and service institution committed to exploring and understanding human consciousness and potential. Although based in Romford the project works in partnership with local education authorities, the pupil referral unit, the young offenders’ institution, sports clubs, voluntary and religious organisations spanning across both Havering and Barking and Dagenham working to empower young people.

Students and staff at Barking’s new Technical Skills Academy welcomed shadow chancellor Ed Balls MP to its official opening on Thursday 18th October. Mr Balls praised the facility along with local MP for Dagenham and Rainham, Jon Cruddas. The new facilities provide vocational training and education for young people aged 16 to 19. The £14 million centre is a joint venture between the borough council and Barking & Dagenham College.
