Jon Cruddas, MP for Dagenham and Rainham, has demonstrated his support for women with breast cancer by becoming a parliamentary ambassador for leading charity Breast Cancer Now.

Jon joins 200 MPs across the country who are pledging their support to Breast Cancer Now – the UK’s largest breast cancer charity – to remind fellow politicians and constituents alike that breast cancer is not a ‘done deal’ and that immediate action must be taken to stop the disease taking lives.

On February 1st MPs debated proposed issues surrounding the changes to the state pension age, which will see the retirement age for women rise to 66 by 2020 bringing it in line with the retirement age for men. The dispute is focused on the changes to the speed of transition from age 60 to 66 which will leave many women in financial difficulty at a time of life when they should be secure.

CHOICE Training which is based in Dagenham has recently announced its support of the research-led campaign to ‘Get Girls Plumbing’. The training college is offering four lucky ladies the chance to pursue a career in plumbing.

Female plumbers-to-be simply need to write 100 words outlining why they would like to win a free place on the course. The four candidates will then be selected by a judging panel made up from the college board of directors, the winners will be announced in time to start at the beginning of next term.
