On Monday 6 September Jon Cruddas MP was contacted by the government with details of a new Covid-19 Test Centre in Dagenham which opened on the same day. The new test centre is located at the Ballard Road Car Park, The Leys, RM10 9TP and will be a ‘walk-through’ local test site.

The new site will make it easier for people to access a test on foot or by cycle from the local area and is aimed at complementing the existing network of drive-through testing facilities.

On Friday 12 February Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham received a letter from the Department of Health and Social Care providing an update on the provision of coronavirus testing in the constituency.

Free and accessible testing is a cornerstone of the NHS Test and Trace service which brings together testing, contact tracing and outbreak management. The letter announced the opening of a new Regional Test Site on Selinas Lane in Dagenham.

On Saturday 12 September a Covid-19 testing site opened in the car park at the Cherry Tree junction in South Hornchurch. Jon Cruddas MP was contacted by many local businesses and residents regarding the site, Jon's team visited on the day to speak directly with those concerned.

Residents and businesses explained that there was no consultation in the surrounding area, and it was set up at short public notice. Businesses allege that the site has had an immediate impact on footfall, and has taken up the only place available for car parking in the vicinity of local shops.

On Thursday 27th August it was announced that Barking and Dagenham will be hosting three Covid-19 testing sites. The first testing site at Mayesbrook Park Car Park, Lodge Avenue, Dagenham RM8 2JR opened last week, Thursday 3rd September. The site is open from 8am-8pm every day.
