Local MP Jon Cruddas visited Year 12 pupils at Robert Clack School last month to hear about their progress as part of The Scholars Programme – a prestigious national scheme which gives school pupils an opportunity to experience university-style learning.

Jon Cruddas MP is encouraging local schools in the Dagenham and Rainham area to participate in the Speaker’s School Council Awards- an awards program that seeks to celebrate school council projects that have made a positive impact in their schools and local communities. This award is run by Parliament’s Education Service on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Rt. Hon. Jon Bercow MP, and offers schools the unique opportunity to highlight what makes their student councils great, while encouraging democracy and teamwork within the councils themselves.

An organisation called Oxbridge Applications is currently promoting their fantastic Access Scheme – the scheme is designed to provide state school students with exceptional opportunities to improve their chances of attending England’s most prestigious Universities, Oxford and Cambridge. The program provides 120 state school students scholarship assistance from Oxbridge graduates every year.

The access scheme puts state school candidates in contact with Oxbridge-graduates to support them in every aspect of the application:
