C2C Service Consultation

Since March 2017 Jon Cruddas MP has been campaigning for better services at Rainham c2c station. He has contacted residents via post, online consultations and postcard consultations handed out by his Havering Action Team outside Rainham station. The response has been huge. Over 700 commuters contacted Jon expressing their concerns. Questions that were put to commuters focused on services during peak times, for example:

“Would you like to see more carriages during peak times e.g. morning and evening?”

Plans Withdrawn for Old Rainham Library Redevelopment

On the 31st of January Jon Cruddas MP wrote to Havering Planning and Permission Homes regarding planning for the redevelopment of Rainham Library and surrounding offices. Jon received several concerns from residents regarding the plans to build 62 new homes, with associated roads, parking, hardsurfacing, landscaping, boundary treatment, refuse stores, and electrical substation and means of access to and from Broadway.

Rainham Resident Launches Road Safety Campaign

Rainham resident Fay Hough has launched a campaign for safer streets in the heart of Rainham. With the support of Jon Cruddas MP, Fay is asking the London Borough of Havering to consider introducing safety measures on Upminster Road South. As a local resident Fay has noticed an increase in speeding and reckless driving near schools and throughout the village, something that a recent survey from Jon Cruddas MP also found. Speaking to other residents there are growing concerns regarding the dangerous driving and growing number of Mopeds in Rainham Village.

Autism Awareness Week, Tree Tops Day Project

On Monday 27th of March, day one of Autism Awareness Week, Havering Coordinator Fay Hough visited Tree Tops Day Project in Rainham. Tree Tops is a day project for adults with learning disabilities which opened in 2010. They provide a stimulating environment where people can participate in different activities and realise their full potential. Adults can leave site every day and attend leisure activities such as swimming and bingo, as well as learning important life skills such as shopping, cooking and hands on money skills.

South Havering, Your MP Needs You!

Local volunteer features in World Delirium Day webinar

The office of Jon Cruddas MP is excited to announce that one of its star volunteers, Janis Cottee, will be participating in a webinar for Dementia and Older People’s Mental Health this upcoming Wednesday, March 15th, 2017 from 12:00 – 13:00 in honour of World Delirium Day.

Janis, who has gone from strength to strength at Jon’s office, has also been invited to speak at numerous public events on the subject of dementia over the last few years – relaying her own personal story.

Today is international Women’s Day, which marks a celebration of the economic, social, cultural and political achievements of women. This year the Spring Budget falls on International Women’s Day, and Labour MPs are calling on the government to guarantee a budget that works for women.

Boundary Review Phase Two

Redevelopment of old Rainham Library

Since June 2015, Permission Homes Ltd have been in discussions with LB Havering regarding the redevelopment of the old Rainham Library. In January 2016, Permission Homes submitted plans to Havering Council to build 62 new homes in Broadway, Rainham. Since the news has broken to the public, Jon Cruddas MP has been inundated with concerns from Rainham residents. Residents are concerned about the impact this redevelopment will have on the local community. Schools are reaching full capacity and doctors’ surgeries are under immense strain, another concern raised.

MP launches c2c consultation

Many local residents have contacted their MP Jon Cruddas feeling dissatisfied with the service at Rainham’s c2c station. Residents have raised the issue of overcrowding on the platform and the inadequate number of carriages used during peak hours at the station. With National Express securing in recent weeks an agreement in principle with Trentitalia for the acquisition of c2c, residents are worried the new timetable released on January 9th by c2c and the upheaval of the new ownership will affect their commute to and from work.
