Police Crack Down On Drifters In Rainham

In February 2017 Jon Cruddas raised issues with Rainham Police regarding drifting and moped offences in Ferry Lane and Cold Harbour Lane, Rainham. Local police were aware of the situation, and on Friday 10th March 2017 they carried out ‘operation Drifter’ in which the operation involved Police, DVLA and The London Borough of Havering parking enforcement. They attended the location late on Friday 10th March and remained there until the early hours of the Saturday morning. During their time at the location, numbers of cars and motorcycles arrived on the scene.

Five Weeks to Save Dagenham Police Station

This week the campaign to save Dagenham Police Station continues into its third month as the petition launched by Jon Cruddas MP gains over 2,500 signatures. The campaign which has gained mounting support from the public, has also seen the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Council jump to the police stations defence.

The campaign to save and retain services at Dagenham Police Station continues this week as Jon Cruddas MP urges residents to collect petition signatures on their streets. The MP for Dagenham and Rainham explained that the online petition “has already gained over 1300 signatures in the first week” but that many more are needed if the station is to be protected against government cuts.

Dagenham Police Station back on chopping block

In 2013, following a community campaign and petition, Jon Cruddas MP successfully protected Dagenham Police Station from closure, when it came under threat from then Mayor of London Boris Johnson.

Today it has come to light that in the next £400m round of government cuts to the Metropolitan Police, the Rainham Road South station is yet again under threat of closure.

MP responds to media coverage of Dagenham burglary statistics

It has recently been reported in the media that Dagenham, RM8, is the worst place for burglaries in London. Barking and Dagenham Police work very closely with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham to tackle this key partnership priority, reducing burglaries and targeting offenders. 

Over the past 12 months (1, January - 31 December, 2014) Dagenham has seen a 27% reduction in burglaries, down from 898 to 628 offences and is in line with a reduction in burglary across London.

Jon Cruddas MP has heard from Havering Borough Metropolitan Police that they are proactively investigating a number of problems.
