Jon Cruddas MP writes a monthly column in the Barking and Dagenham Post. This month Jon spoke about the upcoming vote on Article 50 in Parliament.

"There's been a lot of nonsense talked since last year's referendum from all political parties. In my opinion, talk of trying to slow down our exit from the EU or even stop it altogether is completely misplaced. The entire country had a referendum, everybody had a vote. The people were asked, and they answered.

Earlier this month Local Dagenham and Rainham MP Jon Cruddas joined TV’s Dr Hilary Jones at an event at the House of Commons to celebrate the role of school milk in supporting childhood health.

Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham joined politicians from across London to pledge support for London's Air Ambulance, the charity that delivers a 24/7 advanced trauma team to critically injured people.

Jon said: “it was a pleasure to attend this event, the London Air Ambulance provides a vital service – over the last few years I have pledged my support of the campaign to commission a second air ambulance. I commend all the hard work and dedication of the team.”

Last month a new report was published using research from Sheffield Hallam University, Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Oxfam. The report highlights the effects of pre-2015 welfare reforms and the anticipated impact of further reform across the United Kingdom. It is estimated that new reforms will take in the region of £13bn a year from claimants by 2020-21.

*Eastbrook consultation meeting postponed*

Due to the parliamentary debate and vote concerning extending airstrikes to Syria, the meeting regarding the possible development of a mosque at the May & Baker Community Club will now be postponed. The vote will take place on Wednesday and is a matter of national security, meaning that it is vital for all MP’s to be in attendance.

Jon Cruddas MP has urged MPs from all parties to back Labour’s attempt to scrap the Bedroom Tax by Christmas. Labour has forced a debate and vote in parliament taking place today (Wednesday 17th December) on the Bedroom Tax.
