The Health Centre which is planned for the former St. George’s Hospital site in Hornchurch received a £17m cash injection this week bringing the facility one step closer for the community.

Jon Cruddas MP who represents Rainham, South Hornchurch and Elm Park – the latter of which borders the proposed site has welcomed this news saying “whilst the £1.8bn funding boost from the government doesn’t even scratch the surface of what is needed to restore the NHS nationally, I am very pleased that some of this investment will reach residents in my constituency.”

The Hornchurch Aerodrome Historical Trust (HAHT) have launched a campaign to establish a permanent home to remember and commemorate RAF Hornchurch and the Hornchurch Aerodrome. RAF Hornchurch played a crucial role in the defence of London across two World Wars.

Bellway Homes, currently developing the site which encompasses the old St Georges Hospital have kindly gifted Sutton’s House to the HAHT which means that the organisation are one step closer to achieving their goal.

Diwali, also known as the festival of lights was celebrated by the Havering Asian Social and Welfare Association (HASWA) at their community centre Greenfields, Kilmartin Way, Elm Park, Essex on Saturday 5th November 2016.  Young and old came together for celebrations along with guests MP for Dagenham & Rainham Jon Cruddas,  Deputy Mayor of Havering CouncillorLinda Van den Hende with Mr Laurence Chalk, Councillors Melvin Wallace, Stephanie Nunn & ,  Barry Mugglestone.  Mr  Fauja Singh the 105 year old marathon runner made a guest appearance.

Back in 2014 Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham & Rainham was contacted by local residents with their concerns about the purchase of land at Ingrebourne Hill from the council for the extension of the existing waste fill site. The decision has been met with ongoing resistance.

Being one of few untouched green spaces in the local area, both residents and local Councillors as well as Jon Cruddas MP raised the issue.

Unfortunately the initial decision was taken and passed by Havering council.
