This week the residents of Dovers Farm Estate Green received the result of last month’s hearing regarding their ‘Village Green’ application to protect their community green.

The residents have fought off two attempts to develop the green in recent years with the help of Jon Cruddas MP, the first proposal came from Havering Council themselves and the second by a private developer.

Over the last few months Jon Cruddas was made aware of Havering Councils plans to build 30,000 properties across south Havering including on the green belt and flood plains. This was a major concern for the residents. Jon launched a petition against the plans which has so far accumulated over 1000 signatures.

Back in 2014 Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham & Rainham was contacted by local residents with their concerns about the purchase of land at Ingrebourne Hill from the council for the extension of the existing waste fill site. The decision has been met with ongoing resistance.

Being one of few untouched green spaces in the local area, both residents and local Councillors as well as Jon Cruddas MP raised the issue.

Unfortunately the initial decision was taken and passed by Havering council.
