Over the next few months in Barking and Dagenham, the Everyday Futures public programme, in partnership with London Borough of Barking and Dagenham’s Valence House Archives & Local Studies are presenting the opportunity to celebrate our rich artistic and cultural history, with a number of different events.

Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham has backed the Embassy Cinema Restoration Project which is a proposal by the Chadwell Heath South Residents’ Association to acquire and restore the famous building into a multipurpose space so it can showcase Film, Theatre, Live Music and Dance.

The largest new film and media studios to be built in London for decades will be constructed and operated in Dagenham by Pacifica Ventures in partnership with Media Content Capital (MCC) it was announced on the 22nd March.

Darren Rodwell, the Leader of Barking and Dagenham Council announced that the USA based Pacifica Ventures, in partnership with MCC, will be the preferred builder and operator of the ambitious new film and media complex on the 22-acre site.

In the four years since the pharmaceutical company Sanofi left its former manufacturing site across from Dagenham East Station, significant efforts have been made to regenerate the area and bring in new businesses and services. These regeneration projects serve to provide new employment opportunities for residents in the Dagenham area, and help to shed a positive light on the borough.
