Today (Friday18th July) Jon Cruddas MP held his third annual volunteer thank you breakfast. This year 80 of Jon's key volunteers in the area were treated to a full English at Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club.

From the start back in 2012 the volunteer network has grown to include over 1,900 local residents. The goal was to increase community engagement in Dagenham, Rainham, South Hornchurch and Elm Park where people were beginning to fall through the cracks that government cuts created locally.

The First Big Local Community Forum Reception for the North Meets South Big Local Area will take place on Wednesday 26th February at 7.30pm at the Marks Gate Community Centre. For more details click HERE

This event is targeted at local volunteers, community based businesses and tenant groups. If you would like to attend the event please contact Sian Penner Sian.penner@googlemail.com

A group of five media and graphic design students from Barking and Dagenham College have been experiencing what it's like to produce a short film, thanks to a special commission. The commission saw them film, conduct interviews and take all the photography at a prestigious event on Tuesday 14th May. The event was the Gazelle Colleges Group Summit at which speakers included Matthew Hancock, Minister for Skills, John Cridland CBE, Director General, CBI and Michael Davis, Chief Executive, UKCES.
