The Social Action team at London Riverside Church (LRC) are hosting a ‘Love the Borough' event over the weekend of 10 -11 July 2021. Over the two days LRC will undertake a variety of community projects within Barking and Dagenham.

One of the planned projects is a DIY SOS style event.

On Monday 14 December the Trussell Trust Rainham Foodbank are hosting ‘A Hope for the Season' via YouTube. The event will be a virtual Christmas party for the community, and in particular those that rely on the services they provide throughout the year.

This Saturday the Barking and Dagenham Park Rangers are teaming up with Snakes Alive to deliver an interactive and educational ‘Meet a Snake' Day. Full details can be found by clicking HERE

The event will be held from 11:00am - 3:00pm at Beam Parklands which is near The Bull roundabout in Dagenham East, visitors are asked to look for the marquee and flags upon entering the parklands.

Over the next few months in Barking and Dagenham, the Everyday Futures public programme, in partnership with London Borough of Barking and Dagenham's Valence House Archives & Local Studies are presenting the opportunity to celebrate our rich artistic and cultural history, with a number of different events.

Earlier this year Dagenham United Charity organised Easter eggs to be delivered to the 150 children currently living in Butler Court, a homeless hostel in Dagenham. Normally during the festive season the charity organises hampers for struggling residents but this Christmas Councillor Margaret Mullane, one of the Trustees for Dagenham United Charity, is taking it a step further.

On Friday 1st December Jon Cruddas MP held his seventh annual Christmas card competition presentation event at the former Dagenham Civic Centre, now Coventry University London. All of the photo's from the event can be found on Jon's Facebook page:

Are you looking for a local event for you and your family this summer? The Family Adventures Fun Day is an event being hosted by Barking and Dagenham Council. The local authority, over the last few years, have run events that celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the borough. The events are designed to celebrate the diversity in the community.

Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham held his sixth annual Christmas Card Competition Prize Event last Friday at the Dagenham Civic Centre. The Council Chamber was transformed into Santa's Grotto – and was full of presents which this year for the winners and runners up included some fantastic gifts! All the prizes were presented in front of a packed chamber by Jon Cruddas MP and Father Christmas.

It's been almost a year since the Robert Jeyes Library was transformed into the Chadwell Heath Community Centre. Over the past 12 months the centre has become a hub for the local community and has held many fantastic events, including a visit this summer by her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip.

Education is a huge issue which over the last few months has become increasingly important locally. With the rising need for more school places, the fight against academies and the recent teacher strikes, it is important that residents, parents and teachers get their say and are given a chance to understand the issues in more depth.
