The College is the first in the UK to work in partnership with the Lauder Bureau, part of the Estee Lauder Group of Companies. The partnership has already resulted in two students gaining employment in retail beauty.
Beam County Primary school is well on its way to becoming an eco-school. Over the past year their garden project has really grounded its roots in the local community and in the everyday lives of the pupils.
Asda is opening a new store in Whalebone Lane, Chadwell Heath at the end of October and Barking and Dagenham Council, along with the Jobcentre Plus, will be running presentation sessions to local residents who are interested in applying for work at the new store.
A public meeting was held at Village Community hall with the Communication Workers Union (CWU), Local Councillors, representatives of the Post Office and Jon Cruddas MP to discuss the proposed privatisation of the Dagenham Heathway Crown Post Office.
Over the past couple of months local MP Jon Cruddas’s campaign to fight against the prison proposals for Dagenham and Rainham has attracted a lot of local support. With signatures on the petitions ranking in the thousands and the success of the Rainham rally last Saturday it is time to move the campaign forward.
This year’s volunteer breakfast was another huge success, seeing around 80 local residents in attendance. All those who attended are regular volunteers helping to improve the local area through the network which has grown substantially throughout the past year.
Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham recently circulated a community focus survey centred on the local NHS. The survey called for people to support the campaign against closures at King George’s Hospital. The survey also asked if people thought more resources should be invested to sort out the increasing problems at Queen’s Hospital.
