LBBD Safer Neighbourhood Board

The Safer Neighbourhood Board was set up as a forum for the community to discuss key issues facing the local area such as knife crime, acid attacks, moped crime and car theft. The board is responsible for monitoring police performance.

The SNB is attended by the police Borough Commander alongside representatives from other agencies and organisations in the community.

These meetings are an excellent opportunity for residents to come along and raise any concerns directly with the Borough Commander, and with other residents in the area.

Jon Cruddas MP Welcomes London Mayor's £49m Policing Investment

Issuing his draft budget last week for the entire Greater London Authority Group, Sadiq confirmed that a new additional £49m pot of funding will be made available to the Metropolitan Police over the next year.

Included will be £15m to combat knife crime, £20.1m will be allocated to cover the cost of a two per cent police pay increase in 2018/19. The remaining £13.9m will be made available to the Commissioner to invest in officer numbers and to step up the fight against crime this year and next.

Campaign to Save Rainham Police Front Counter

The police front counter at Rainham Tesco has been earmarked for closure as part of the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime ‘Public Access Strategy’, this would mean that the nearest police station for Rainham residents to report crime will be Romford.

A 25 minute drive without traffic, or approx. 55 minutes by public transport.

Dagenham Police Station Saved!

On Wednesday 1st November after a three month campaign led by Jon Cruddas MP, and supported by the council; the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime has announced that Dagenham police station has been saved.

MOPAC noted: ’In Barking and Dagenham specifically, people have expressed strong views about the proposed closure of Dagenham Police Station and the impact this would have on public confidence.’

This week the campaign to save Dagenham Police Station continues into its third month as the petition launched by Jon Cruddas MP gains over 2,500 signatures. The campaign which has gained mounting support from the public, has also seen the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Council jump to the police stations defence.

Dagenham Police Station - the campaign continues

The campaign to save and retain services at Dagenham Police Station continues this week as Jon Cruddas MP urges residents to collect petition signatures on their streets. The MP for Dagenham and Rainham explained that the online petition “has already gained over 1300 signatures in the first week” but that many more are needed if the station is to be protected against government cuts.

Dagenham Police Station back on chopping block

In 2013, following a community campaign and petition, Jon Cruddas MP successfully protected Dagenham Police Station from closure, when it came under threat from then Mayor of London Boris Johnson.

Today it has come to light that in the next £400m round of government cuts to the Metropolitan Police, the Rainham Road South station is yet again under threat of closure.

MP responds to media coverage of Dagenham burglary statistics

It has recently been reported in the media that Dagenham, RM8, is the worst place for burglaries in London. Barking and Dagenham Police work very closely with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham to tackle this key partnership priority, reducing burglaries and targeting offenders. 

Over the past 12 months (1, January - 31 December, 2014) Dagenham has seen a 27% reduction in burglaries, down from 898 to 628 offences and is in line with a reduction in burglary across London.

Crime: Proactive Approach from Rainham Police

Jon Cruddas MP, Member of Parliament for Dagenham and Rainham Incorporating South Hornchurch and Elm Park, has been liaising with residents and local police to deal with a number of concerns in Rainham and South Hornchurch.

Jon Cruddas MP has heard from Havering Borough Metropolitan Police that they are proactively investigating a number of problems.
