Rainham Resident Launches Road Safety Campaign

Rainham resident Fay Hough has launched a campaign for safer streets in the heart of Rainham. With the support of Jon Cruddas MP, Fay is asking the London Borough of Havering to consider introducing safety measures on Upminster Road South. As a local resident Fay has noticed an increase in speeding and reckless driving near schools and throughout the village, something that a recent survey from Jon Cruddas MP also found. Speaking to other residents there are growing concerns regarding the dangerous driving and growing number of Mopeds in Rainham Village.

Fay Hough said: "I use Upminster Road South every day, and I witness reckless driving on a daily basis. Throughout the day, elderly residents use the town centre to shop and access other services. Add to this the increasing number of families using this road to take their children to and from school - I feel it's only a matter of time before someone gets hurt, and many others agree. I want the best for the area, and we shouldn't have to wait until a serious incident takes place to get it!"

Jon Cruddas MP said: "Fay is an active campaigner in South Havering. This particular issue is extremely important and she has my full support. I have been contacted frequently over the past few months by Rainham residents who have raised concerns of speeding traffic and an increasing number of Mopeds. I fully support Fay in her endeavour to secure safety measures along Upminster Road South."
