Dementia 2020 Conference

On the 17th of April 2018, Janis Cottee (a volunteer for Jon Cruddas and active dementia campaigner) was one of only 10 carers given a free place to attend the Dementia 2020 Conference and Exhibition. The conference, which took place at the Royal Society of Medicine in London, allowed participants to hear from senior leaders from many key partner organisations involved in the Dementia 2020 Challenge.

The Dementia 2020 Challenge contains over 50 commitments that together aspire to make England the best country in the world for dementia care and support, for people with dementia to live; and to conduct dementia research.

Discussions included ?leading a nation in tackling dementia,' and ?how well services are meeting the needs of people living with dementia.'

Janis has been a passionate campaigner for dementia charities for many years now, and has been invited to speak about dementia at several professional conferences across the UK.

Jon Cruddas MP said: "Janis is a fantastic campaigner for people living with dementia. The hard work she puts in, not only in my office and the local community but nationally, is inspiring. The fact that Janis was 1 of only 10 carers given a free space to attend the Dementia 2020 conference is a true reflection on how appreciated Janis is, and our community certainly appreciates her for all she does to ensure dementia patients are cared for in the best way possible."
