New Rainham Leisure Centre Opens

In July 2023 Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham & Rainham welcomed the opening of the new Rainham Leisure Centre, designed specifically to help everyone in the local community to lead a more active life to improve public health. The centre has a large variety of facilities able to accommodate everyone. Rainham Leisure Centre boasts a gym that’s packed with all the very latest equipment, a swimming pool, group exercise studio, an outdoor recreation ground and the old children’s play area has also been regenerated.

Jon Cruddas MP campaigned for years to save the former Chaffords Sports Complex and swimming pool from closure, however unfortunately this closed in 2019, so these new facilities will be a welcome addition for Rainham residents.

This centre is easily accessible for all residents. They also offer a concession membership to a wide portion of society who work for the emergency services, serve in the armed forces, full-time carers and many more. The gym also has opening times to suit everyone’s schedule and opens 6am-10pm Monday to Friday, and 8am-10pm at weekends. Everyone Active gyms are packed with all the latest fitness kits, including cardio, resistance, functional and free weights equipment. This means whatever your preferred workout, you’ll find all the equipment you need.

On Saturday 29th July and Sunday 30th July, Rainham leisure centre is hosting its second family fun weekend. Managed by Everyone Active and Havering Council the centre will be displaying their brand-new swimming facilities free of cost. Starting from 10am up until 4pm on Saturday, they will be offering free lane swimming and family swimming lessons. There will also be face painters, balloon modellers, stilt walkers, and the childrens playground will be open for use. On Sunday, they’re offering free swimming lessons.

Jon Cruddas commented: “It is fantastic to see state of the art leisure facilities right on the doorstep for Rainham residents. We campaigned for years against the closure of the Chaffords Sports Complex, and the local community was sad to see it finally close its doors. Four years on I know that many local people will be pleased with this development. I would encourage everyone to get active and enjoy the new facilities and the family days they are hosting – it is especially positive to see the concessions offered to our armed forces community.”
