Jon Cruddas MP has recently been contacted by The Silver Sunday Team regarding this years Silver Sunday which will be on Sunday 6 October. Silver Sunday is a special day in the national calendar established to celebrate older people.

The day is a chance for local businesses, charities, schools, faith and community groups to host events that champion older people and encourage other organisations to work closer with the ‘silver community’.

Last year there were over 1,000 fun and free events held nationwide. This year the Silver Sunday Team want to double the impact by hosting 2,000 events, reaching 100,000 older people.

Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham is encouraging organisations across the constituency to get involved.

Jon said: “this is a great initiative and I applaud the work of the Silver Sunday Team. We have an ageing population and schemes like this are a great way to keep the older generation active and involved in their community. I hope organisations across Dagenham, Rainham, South Hornchurch and Elm Park will take part this year by hosting their own events.”
