The College is the first in the UK to work in partnership with the Lauder Bureau, part of the Estee Lauder Group of Companies. The partnership has already resulted in two students gaining employment in retail beauty.
The best students from Barking & Dagenham College, will go through an internal selection process and if successful they will then be put forward to the Lauder Bureau of Estee Lauder Companies. As the company receives hundreds of CVs from people keen to work for them, to be put directly in front of the Lauder Bureau in this way is an incredible opportunity for students.
This new initiative demonstrates the College's commitment to providing its students with access to leading businesses and work opportunities following their studies. By linking with Barking & Dagenham College, Estee Lauder is directly accessing the next generation of beauty industry talent.
Clare Patterson, from the Lauder Bureau said: "We at the Lauder Bureau are excited to work in partnership with Barking & Dagenham College in this pilot recruitment scheme. We have already successfully interviewed two of the top hair and beauty students and look forward to them commencing work with the Lauder Bureau soon."
Cathy Walsh, Principal and CEO of Barking & Dagenham College commented: "The College is committed to matching students with job interview opportunities and we are always keen to work with businesses to support students on their way to employment. The new partnership with the Lauder Bureau demonstrates perfectly how businesses can work with Colleges as part of a win-win situation. We look forward to seeing many of our students achieve their dreams of working with one of the best known brands in the beauty industry."
Local Member of Parliament Jon Cruddas said: "It is great to see students from Dagenham get amazing opportunities like this. Estee Lauder is a world famous company and it's fantastic to see them working within the borough. The partnership with Barking and Dagenham College is one I hope continues as it seems to be producing such great results."
