Jon Cruddas visited a community volunteer Sebastian Iheaka last Friday to celebrate the birth of his new baby girl. Mr Iheaka, an active member of his local community has been responsible for driving a number of community campaigns in recent years.
His wife, Susan, who gave birth to the baby girl, Chizaram, on February 19th, was full of praise for QueensHospital where she delivered the new bundle of joy.
The maternity and A and E services have been highly criticised by many in the local community in recent years, but Susan was deeply impressed with her treatment at the new and improved maternity department.
Jon was full of praise for the work of Mr Iheaka and spoke hopefully about the new facilities at Queens:
"Sebastian is a total stalwart of the local community. He's been a part of my volunteer network for a number of years and is very active in his area. It was such a pleasure to be able to congratulate him in person and to hear about a good news story coming out of Queens Hospital.
"We all know that Queens is overstretched and underfunded, but it's encouraging to see that the improvements of the past year are starting to feed through to patient care."
