Wild and Free in LBBD 2022 Calendar

In 2021 the parks and open spaces across Barking and Dagenham went from strength to strength and the Wild and Free in LBBD competition entered its second year. The competition was devised by Councillor Andrew Achilleos and last year saw the Ranger Service deliver a fantastic array of educational and fun community events across Eastbrookend and The Chase to get young people in the borough engaged with nature.

As part of the project residents are asked to enter photographs taken around the borough into the Wild and Free in LBBD calendar competition. This year the entries were fantastic and the calendar can be found by clicking HERE.

Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham said: “the programme of events held last year was excellent and the calendar really showcases the local environment. Barking and Dagenham is home to some truly spectacular wildlife, and I hope the images captured by local people will help inspire other families in the borough to get out and explore the country parks.”

Cllr Andrew Achilleos added: “our award-winning parks have really grown over the course of the past two years and much of that is testament to the dedication and hard work of the Ranger Service. I’m incredibly proud that the Wild and Free in LBBD competition has become an annual event and I hope more people will take part this year. Congratulations to the 2021 winner!”

In 2021 Eastbrookend Discovery Centre featured on Transport for London posters, the Eastbrookend Tea Rooms opened making the country park a real destination for residents and visitors, our country parks were awarded Green Flag status, and the council launched a dedicated website for the Dagenham Corridor.
