I say it after every Budget over these past 14 years, but what we have been given is more smoke and mirrors. Like previous Tory Budgets it will yet again be working people who fall foul of the Government’s sleight of hand and the services we all depend on will further deteriorate. People will conclude that 14 years has led to the country being worse off and living standards for working people have worsened.

Supporting the United for Warm Homes campaign

Jon Cruddas MP was contacted by a local resident last week calling for him to support the United for Warm Homes campaign. United for Warm Homes is a campaign made up of hundreds of community groups across the UK. The campaign is calling for permanent solutions to our broken energy system, starting with home insulation. Over 9 million UK households are living in badly insulated homes and have incomes too low to afford the basics, like heating and food.

Progress in sight on cutting building insurance costs for leaseholders

Jon Cruddas MP has welcomed news that at last action is being taken on the scandalously high building insurance costs that have been forced on leaseholders and shared owners. Jon has mounted a campaign on behalf of leaseholders of apartments in Dagenham and Rainham to cut the premiums being charged by insurance companies and then recharged by the buildings owners to leaseholders in inflated service charges.

Worrying homelessness trends in Dagenham and Rainham

Jon Cruddas is calling on anyone who isn’t vaccinated to urgently come forward to get their measles (MMR) vaccine amid rising cases in the West Midlands and concerns of a rapid outbreak in London in coming weeks if action is not taken.

Air Pollution Reports in Rainham

Jon Cruddas MP and Labour’s PPC Margaret Mullane have both received reports from residents around the Parsonage Road, Rainham area of alleged illegal burning of plastic. Residents have spoken of strong smells of plastic burning around school pick up of children who attend Parsonage Farm Primary. This has allegedly been happening 2/3 times a week, for several weeks.
