Following a meeting attended by Jon Cruddas MP and Wendy Morton, Minister of State at the Department of Transport on Monday 7/3/22 to discuss the cancellation of the promised Beam Park station, Jon reports that there now appears to be some progress.
Last year the Rush Green community launched a campaign to save their Post Office from a proposed closure. A petition was raised, and local Labour MP Jon Cruddas contacted Post Office HQ to make representations on behalf of residents. Ward Councillors Princess Bright and Tony Ramsay also went door to door speaking to the community about the plans.
Yesterday (11.01.22) in Westminster Hall Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham brought forward a debate to discuss the government refusal to deliver Beam Park station in the south of his constituency. The Labour MP has been running a campaign to force the Department of Transport to change its position since the news broke in August 2021.
The campaign calling for the government to reverse its decision and deliver Beam Park station is being brought to Parliament by Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham.
Jon has been making the case for the much needed station to be allowed to go ahead and has now secured a debate at Westminster Hall on Tuesday 11 January.
On Friday (10.09.21) residents of Dagenham Village met with Jon Cruddas MP on Church Street to accept a petition against the Controlled Parking Zone due to be introduced to the area imminently. Despite the majority of residents voting against the scheme, the council are planning to push through the CPZ for access purposes based on advice from the London Fire Brigade.
Following last week's revelations which highlighted the Government had pulled funding for a new station on the Beam Park development site, Jon Cruddas MP has now learned that the proposed new c2c station was fully funded by the Greater London Authority and developers. In addition to the construction, the GLA and London Mayor's office had also offered the Department of Transport £10million to protect the Government against the cost of operational deficit for the first 10 years.
