Foodbank

London Riverside Foodbank Appeal

Jon Cruddas MP has been in touch with The London Riverside Church, Parsloes Avenue, Dagenham, RM9 5PT.

The church has been of great support to many of Jon’s constituents over the years. They run several community groups as well as operating a Baby Bank and “Store City”- their foodbank.

There are currently some items for the foodbank that would be particularly welcomed:

Rainham Foodbank: More Than Food

Jon Cruddas MP was recently contacted by Rainham Foodbank in regard to their “More Than Food” service. Rainham Foodbank is part of Trussell Trust’s UK wide network of over 460 foodbanks, working to tackle food poverty and hunger across the UK.

They are a Christian charity that partner with local communities, providing non-judgemental help to people in crisis. They provide at least 3 days food for people in emergency and crisis and a number of frontline care professionals including GP’s, schools and Helplines can refer individuals.

NATIONAL LOTTERY COMMUNITY FUND AWARDS HUGE SUM TO RAINHAM FOODBANK

Over the course of the end of 2022, the National Lottery donated funds to community projects up and down the country, including in Dagenham and Rainham. The National Lottery Community Fund provided almost 2,500 grants last year and one of their biggest funding grants was made available to the Rainham Foodbank.

Dagenham Foodbank

This month, Jon Cruddas MP’s team had the pleasure of meeting with Dagenham Foodbank. Dagenham Foodbank is part of the Trussell Trust which is a charity that works to end the need for food banks in the UK. The Trussell Trust supports a network of over 1200 foodbank centres to provide emergency food and compassionate, practical support to people in crisis, while campaigning for the long-term change to the structural issues that lock people into poverty.
