Since the beginning of the pandemic Tapestry-UK have been working tirelessly alongside Havering Council to ensure that support for the elderly and most vulnerable was in place. The charity has stepped up their operation to meet demand as the situation has shifted.
The latest offer from Tapestry-UK is a hot meal service, providing free meals for vulnerable people in emergencies and people returning from hospital, and a non-profit food service (2 course meal for £5.00) as regular support for those who cannot cook. Over the course of the past week Tapestry have provided over 140 hot meals to those in need.

Jon Cruddas MP commented: "The team at Tapestry-UK have really stepped up to the plate and are providing a fantastic service to our most vulnerable residents. Adult Social Care was already under pressure and overstretched prior to the pandemic so now the supportive work of the charity and voluntary sector has become more important than ever.
"The work being undertaken by Tapestry-UK to ensure that elderly residents are not completely isolated and left feeling alone is vital to a smooth reconnect with society after the crisis passes."
Tapestry-UK outlined to Jon that their next steps would be to find innovative ways to support vulnerable clients moving forward. They are looking at ways to assist carers, people living with disabilities and others across the social care sector through a coordinated approach that connects the local authority, NHS, voluntary organisations and others.
