New Rainham Community Hub Opens

This week Havering opened its second community hub which will operate between two locations, Rainham Library and the Mardyke Community Centre.

The Pop-up Community Hub will offer support to local residents across a range of services. The idea behind it is to assist with supporting communities as society and the economy recovers from the pandemic.

Services based at Rainham Library on Wednesdays between 10am-12.30pm will focus on housing issues, finance, and personal well-being. Services based at the Mardyke Community Centre will focus on employment and financial advice and will operate on Fridays between 10am and 12.30pm.

Clarion Futures along with the CAB, Havering Mind and others will be working alongside Havering Council to deliver a wide range of support and advice to local people. There will also be local employers available, looking to recruit people into jobs ? offering practical solutions to help people back into work.

Jon Cruddas MP said: "I'm pleased to see this level of commitment from the council to support the community in the south of the borough. The pandemic has left a lot of people in need of support and help to get their lives back on track, by pulling together a number of partner organisations across sectors this hub should be a great starting point for recovery across the Rainham area."
