On Monday 6 September Jon Cruddas MP was contacted by the government with details of a new Covid-19 Test Centre in Dagenham which opened on the same day. The new test centre is located at the Ballard Road Car Park, The Leys, RM10 9TP and will be a ‘walk-through' local test site.
The new site will make it easier for people to access a test on foot or by cycle from the local area and is aimed at complementing the existing network of drive-through testing facilities.
Before selecting the site, the government liaised with both the local authority and public health stakeholders in order to ensure that the site was suitable for the service.
Across the UK testing capacity is currently at 720,000 per day. Anyone experiencing a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, or a loss or change to sense of smell or taste should book a test a nhs.uk/coronavirus, by calling 119, using the NHS Covid-19 app or by attending a walk-in site such as the new one in Dagenham.
