MP Walks Covid Memorial Wall with Constituents

Katherine Edmunds of Blacksmiths Lane Rainham reached out to Jon Cruddas as her MP to join her and her father, Peter Pears on Wednesday 8 September to commemorate the loss of her brother and Peter's son, Matt  who died as a result of the Covid pandemic.

Bereaved families gathered on Westminster Bridge to walk the length of the National Covid Memorial Wall where hearts have been painted as a memorial to those who have died. As well as an act of commemoration the bereaved families are demanding that the Government bring forward the promised public inquiry rather than its start being delayed until some time in 2022.

Jon said "It was a privilege to join Kathy and the many others today to remember Matt and the more than 132,000 people who lost their lives in the Covid pandemic. This gave all of us a time to reflect on the lives of those who died. I join with the families in calling on the Government for the public inquiry to commence as soon as possible to learn from the many mistakes that were made in order that the nation can be properly prepared in the future."
