MP Consults on Rainham Post Office Access

Earlier this month, Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham was contacted by a number of residents who raised concerns about the accessibility of Rainham Post Office on Wennington Road. The concerns centred on lack of parking provision which could hamper disabled and elderly residents from accessing services.

Today, Trevor McKeever, a member of Jon's team in Havering, visited Rainham Post Office and noted the yellow lines which prevent people parking in the immediate vicinity of the building. Recently nominated for a Post Office ?We're Stronger Together' award for outstanding services to the community during the Covid-19 lockdown, Postmaster Raj Bhatt expressed how pleased he was that this issue was being addressed.

Fay Hough, another member of the Havering team said: "services provided by our local Post Offices have been very important during lockdown, especially for our older residents. Anything we can do to support them and make services more accessible is important, which is why Jon as the local MP is making representation on their behalf. Best of luck to Postmaster Bhatt in his nomination, and I hope that we can get a good outcome on this issue for the local community and his business."

In response, Jon will be writing to residents in the locality of Rainham Post Office to gauge their opinion on the situation. Responses from the local community will then be shared with Havering Council to show the strength of feeling on this issue and to find a resolution that best serves the community.
