Saint Francis Hospice reached out to Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham regarding the government's 3% pay increase for NHS workers. St Francis have asked Jon to write to the CCG, Secretary of State for Health and Chancellor to ensure Hospice workers will also receive this increase with full financial support from the Government.
Saint Francis have been a key part of the community for a long time, not only providing compassionate support to local people at the end of their lives, but by also supporting local services such as:
· End-of-life care training for NHS staff.
· End-of-life care facilitator support for Brentwood Community Hospital.
· Infection control in care homes for the North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT).
· Development of an e-Learning module for registered Nurse Verification of expected deaths in response to the increased death rate in the community.
The 3% increase for hospice workers would allow for higher levels of recruitment and to keep the high quality of staff needed to provide the vital care Saint Francis Hospice delivers for many constituents across Dagenham and Rainham as well as NHS staff. Jon Cruddas MP is a long-time supporter of the hospice and commends the work they do to support families and older people across the area. Jon has written to the Chancellor, Secretary of State for Health and local CCGs urging the extension of the 3% pay uplift.

I completely support the call for end-of-life hospice care workers to receive the 3% pay uplift that the government have given NHS staff, and have written to the Chancellor and Health Secretary urging the extension of this pay increase. With an ageing population there will be mounting demand and pressure to deliver hospice care and similar services, so it is important that government properly reward the work to ensure that charities such as St Francis Hospice can continue to provide specialist care for our family, friends and loved ones in later life."
