Make it in Marks Gate Meeting

Last week Jon Cruddas MP joined local councillors and the Barking and Dagenham Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) in Marks Gate to discuss community investment opportunities.

One of the key concerns raised by the community at past police meetings has been the lack of local activities and provision for young people. Residents of Marks Gate often feel cut off from the borough and concerns have been voiced regarding the poor transport links and accessibility to existing resources.

Jon Cruddas MP said: "this was a very productive meeting that highlighted a number of funding opportunities to get Marks Gate up and running. There is a fantastic community up here, it's about tapping into that and providing engaging activities for residents."

Funding opportunities include the Young Londoners Fund launched by London Mayor Sadiq Khan to deliver activities that support young people aged 10-21, London City Airport Community Fund, and Barking and Dagenham Council provide match funding up to £10,000 on crowdfunder projects that support the borough manifesto.

Jon added: "I applaud the work of the CVS who are doing a great job to deliver opportunities for everyone in the borough."
