London's Historic Markets - Public Exhibition

Over the course of this week The City of London Corporation has hosted a number of public exhibitions on the proposals to relocate the three wholesale food markets; Billingsgate, New Spitalfields and Smithfield to Dagenham Dock.

The exhibitions are a chance for residents to view the plans and to have a say on the proposal. If you haven't had a chance to get to an exhibition there is another one on:

  • Saturday 1 February
  • 10am-1pm
  • St Peter's RC Parish Hall, 52 Goresbrook Road, Dagenham, RM9 6UR

Alternatively, if you can't make the above date all the consultation information can be found online here: https://wholesalemarkets.cityoflondon.gov.uk/city-surveyors/wholesale-markets-in-dagenham-dock/

Jon Cruddas MP said: "this move has been years in the making and as the local MP I am proud to have played a part in bringing the three markets to Dagenham. The council leadership have done a fantastic job in negotiating a deal that is set to deliver the very best opportunities for local residents.

"As with all developments of this size it is important that residents get to have their say, to help shape the final plans. That's why I'm encouraging people across Dagenham to get to one of the exhibitions or take part in the online consultation."

The consultation on the plans closes on 2 March 2020. You can take part here: https://wholesalemarkets.cityoflondon.gov.uk/city-surveyors/wholesale-markets-in-dagenham-dock/
