Havering Libraries Close Their Doors

Today (Friday 8 January) Havering Council have announced the closure of all libraries within the borough until at least mid-February as an additional measure in the fight against Covid-19. After an initial closure period which lasted until November 2020, libraries have been open for the collection and return of books and pre-booked essential computer/internet access.

Late fees are to remain suspended.

Jon Cruddas MP said: "I think in light of the current situation across east London this is the right move. Every necessary step should be taken to combat the virus until vaccines can be effectively delivered on mass. Many of the library services that are cherished by residents can still be accessed online through ebooks, audiobooks and events."

The library service is still delivering a number of online events to keep communities connected throughout the national lockdown, and details can be found on the website here: https://www.havering.gov.uk/events/20039/libraries
