Last week, Jon Cruddas MP heard the news that Barking and Dagenham Council has reopened the former Grays Court Community Hospital as a homeless hostel. The building was reopened under the name "Grays Court" on the 17th of May.
The facilities
Grays Court has 57 rooms. Of these rooms, 27 have en suite toilets and showers. The entire ground floor of Grays Court has excellent standards of disabled facilities. With the help and dedication of the Village Ward Councillors: - Margaret Mullane, Lee Waker and Philip Waker, it has been ensured that moving forwards, there will be a Community Food Club facility within the premises.
For £10.00 a month, Community Food Clubs can offer £20.00 worth of shopping a week. The food is of a high standard.
The Village Ward Councillors have asked for other facilities' which may be useful to the community and will be feeding back as soon as they hear news.

The sad reality is that we are still in the grips of a housing crisis and facilities like this are a necessity for families and individuals facing homelessness."
