Jon Cruddas MP has recently been informed of a fantastic organisation – "This Girl's Ability".

This Girl's Ability is a non-profit organisation that provides girls and young women with disabilities aged 8 to 25 the opportunity to have access to a wide range of activities. This includes football, swimming, other sports, creative hobbies, pop culture and a variety of volunteering and training opportunities. The organisation also partakes in trips.

They recently celebrated their first year of service and have created a strong sense of community within this first year.

This Girl's Ability: "We seek to empower girls and young women with disabilities through sports and creative opportunities. We aim to combat loneliness, which is common in this demographic, by strengthening peer relationships, assisting in the prevention and management of poor mental health, and enhancing physical health.”

The professional team who run This Girl's Ability includes individuals with disabilities, providing their members with inspiring and encouraging role models. In addition to holding multiple credentials and certificates, the team has a wealth of experience working with youth with disabilities. These include first aid, youth mental health first aid, epilepsy awareness, safeguarding children and teenagers with SEND, autism awareness, and sports-specific training.

The organisation is based in the London Borough of Havering and has hubs in Havering, Dagenham and Chelmsford.

Jon Cruddas MP: “I commend Nikki Fairbairn, the organisations founder, and the entire team at 'This Girl's Ability' for their passion to support and empower young girls and women. The work they are undertaking and the services they provide are invaluable. I would really encourage the young women of Dagenham and Rainham to get involved.”
