Dagenham Civic Centre

Back in June the Barking and Dagenham Post reported on possible proposals surrounding the Civic Centre which resulted in a lot of feedback from local residents. There has been a lot of rumour and speculation about the future of the building and this month Jon Cruddas MP is launching a public consultation in response to this.

Over the past few years Jon Cruddas has ensured that residents are consulted on everything that might have an impact on them or the local area. When plans to build a 2,000 capacity prison were put forward Jon asked every resident what they thought and 10,000 people responded. When the Post Office at the Heathway was threatened with privatisation Jon held a series of public meetings and hundreds attended.

Jon Cruddas commented: "The most important thing to me is democratic consultation with the public. The Civic Centre is an iconic part of Dagenham's history and I think every resident should have a chance to put forward their opinion regarding the building."

This month Jon will be delivering a survey to every house in Dagenham, asking the question ? "what do you think?" There will be a section on the survey providing residents with the opportunity to share their views.

If you would like to join Jon's volunteers and help deliver the surveys in Dagenham please call his office on: 020 8984 7854
