Community Champion Trevor McKeever Receives Tesco Prize

This week Trevor McKeever, a member of Jon Cruddas MP's south Havering action team and 2018 local election candidate has received a prize from Rainham Tesco in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the community during lockdown.

Trevor McKeever volunteered his time as part of the Havering Mutual Aid effort delivering food parcels to elderly and vulnerable people facing self-isolation, and to staff at Queen's Hospital. Trevor also worked closely with the Mardyke Community Centre situated on Orchard Village to support residents and is a member of the Safer Neighbourhood Ward Police Panel.

Trevor said: "These have been an incredibly tough few months for people and at times like this an active community is key. I work throughout the year alongside some fantastic people as a volunteer campaigning for cleaner air, better quality developments, fire safety and to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. When lockdown was announced it was important to me that I did my bit to support those that needed help. I was really surprised when Tesco announced I had won a hamper in recognition of my efforts!"

Jon Cruddas MP said: "Trevor is a real community champion and it didn't surprise me one bit that he was acknowledged for his efforts to support vulnerable people in the Rainham area. One positive to take away from the pandemic is that it has brought the best out in a lot of people and has sparked some of the old community spirit associated with Dagenham and Rainham. Well done to Trevor, and all those that have volunteered to help others throughout the crisis."
