Community Campaign Launches to Bring Back Our Bobbies

At the end of last month, a new community-led campaign was launched in Dagenham & Rainham as a response to diminishing police resources and rising crime.

Bring Back Our Bobbies is a non-party political campaign calling for a permanent police base at transport hubs across the constituency starting with Dagenham Heathway, then moving on to Elm Park and Chadwell Heath.

Jon Cruddas MP commented: “Over the years there have been many successful community campaigns in our area, and it is always people power that drives them. We saved Dagenham Police Station from closure twice, and stopped a super-prison being dumped on our doorstep to name a couple of victories. I welcome this project and I am encouraging local people to get behind this latest campaign to help improve the policing offer in Dagenham & Rainham.”

Margaret Mullane is co-ordinating the campaign alongside community groups, local businesses, and faith organisations from across the constituency. As well as organising days of action the campaign group are also asking residents to collect signatures on their street.

To request a campaign pack which includes information, a poster for your window, and five petition sheets so you can collect signatures down your street. Please email a freepost return envelope will also be provided so residents can send completed petitions back at no cost.
