Charity Begins at Home ? Essex

?Charity Begins at Home ? Essex' is a new Charity shop that has recently opened in Rainham Village making it the only charity shop for residents living in Rainham. For years, Joe Norman and his wife Ann have always been involved with supporting charities such as St. Francis Hospice, The British Heart Foundation, Royal National Lifeboat Institution, and the Air Ambulance.

Joe owns land in Rainham that houses a parade of shops on Upminster Road South, recently one of the units became empty. Joe and his wife both felt that they could use the unit to set up something to help the local community. During research of various charities, Joe was very surprised to see the percentage of donations/earnings which made it to those in need once overheads were taken out. This was when he and his wife decided that they would open a local charity shop aimed at giving back to the community it serves, by giving directly to those who needed it most.

Charity Begins at Home ? Essex helps families in need as well as donating to local projects such as Rainham Allotments.

There has been a positive response from local residents since the shop opened, which has recently led Joe and his wife to purchase two containers to store the overflow stock coming in. They are hoping that as more people realise there is a new charity shop in Rainham, hopefully they will visit to support the local community.

When asked if the charity shop is looking for any specific items Joe disclosed that they are currently full of donations and are looking for several more containers to house the overflow of stock. Please contact Joe at joex15@mail.com if you feel you can help the charity.

Charity Begins at Home ? Essex is located at 76 Upminster Road South, Rainham, RM13 9AA.
