C2C Update: July 2023

Jon Cruddas MP has been recently contacted by the c2c with an update on a new appointment and upgrades to stations.

New Appointment

The c2c are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Commercial Director, Eleni Jordan, who will be starting this role at the beginning of September. Eleni has a wealth of knowledge and experience, having previously worked at Chiltern Railways, Abellio Greater Anglia and the National Express group among others. They are looking forward to her endeavours supporting them with great anticipation:

“I’m thrilled and delighted to be joining Trenitalia c2c… I’m extremely excited to build upon all the fantastic work which has taken place and to drive forward new and innovative ways for c2c to further flourish and grow in order to build a sustainable business for our customers and stakeholders.”

Upgrades to Stations

The c2c have also been working towards major improvements to two stations, Grays and Thorpe Bay.

In partnership with Network Rail, they have initiated plans to install step-free access facilities at Grays railway station. This progressive and inclusive step will see two new lifts, one for each platform, to be added which connect to the existing pedestrian subway. Construction has already begun and will be expected to be completed by August 2024. Following necessary safety checks and certifications, the c2c expect the step-free facilities to be open to the public by the autumn-winter of 2024-25.

Further down the line, upgrade work at Thorpe Bay has also begun regarding the blight of the local pigeon population. The upgrades here will occur over the coming months and will see that the netting is replaced to ensure a more pleasant environment for the public as well as strive towards an improved local environment.
