Jon Cruddas MP has recently been contacted by The Booktrust who provided information about their newly refreshed Bookstart Baby programme, and how it will reach families across the constituency of Dagenham and Rainham.
The Bookstart Baby package contains two engaging and age-appropriate board books which are suitable for the age range of 0-12 months old, as well as a fun informative leaflet which contains information for adults and parents. Jon fully supports the wide range of benefits Bookstart Baby provides which includes the improvement of mental health, literacy skills, communication skills and language development.
Due to the disruption caused by Covid-19, there is a concern that in many instances educational development has slowed.
Jon received an example Bookstart Baby package and commends The Booktrust's dedication to support a generation of children's education.
Jon said: "I have always been amazed by the innovative and inspiring programmes led by The Booktrust to get children and their parents engaging in reading. Not only does their work promote good literacy, but it also encourages creativity and helps to develop better communication in families."
