Armed Forces Day 2023

Armed Forces Day
Armed Forces Day 2023

Armed Forces Day will be held on the 24th of June and is a chance to support those who make up the armed forces community. Dagenham and Rainham have a long and proud service history. Remembrance Day is one of the biggest dates in the local calendar and so is Armed Forces Day.

This Saturday Jon Cruddas MP will be at the Romford Armed Forces Day parade, details of which can be found here: Armed Forces Day Parade | The London Borough Of Havering

It is important day to recognise those who have served and continue to serve our country, which is why ensuring veterans and their families have the best possible support is a key Labour policy. The Conservatives have created a postcode lottery on veteran support, with personnel living in some of the worst grade Single Living Accommodation, and Ministers not improving mental health support for veterans. Labour is deeply proud of our Armed Forces personnel, veterans and their families and the contributions they make to our country. The next Labour Government have promised to:

  • Boost specialist support and bring down waiting times for veteran’s mental health services,
  • Improve access to justice service personnel by trying the most serious crimes in civilian courts when they are committed in the UK
  • Labour will be the voice for Forces personnel and families enduring miserable housing conditions, using experiences to aid policy review
  • Reviewing the system for awarding military medals to serving members of the Armed Forces and veterans, to ensure they get the recognition they deserve.
  • The next Labour Government will fully incorporate the Armed forces covenant into law and fulfil the important moral contract our society makes with those who serve.

Jon Cruddas MP commented: “The next Labour Government will stand by our troops, veterans, and their families. We will boost mental health support, ensure our heroes have good homes to live in and fully incorporate the Armed Forces Covenant into law.”

“I have always worked hard to support those within our constituency who make-up the armed forces community. Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for us to thank all those who have served and continue to defend our country.”
