Air Pollution Reports in Rainham

Jon Cruddas MP and Labour’s PPC Margaret Mullane have both received reports from residents around the Parsonage Road, Rainham area of alleged illegal burning of plastic. Residents have spoken of strong smells of plastic burning around school pick up of children who attend Parsonage Farm Primary. This has allegedly been happening 2/3 times a week, for several weeks.

Both Jon and Margaret have approached Havering Council regarding this issue and has now received a response. Havering stated that their Environmental Health team were in receipt of an allegation of cable burning / plastic in October on Farm Road, but this was not substantiated. Apart from this report, no other complaints have been received. However, it may be that fires have been reported in a different street, so will not be easily reportable.

It is recommended that residents are directed towards the Havering Council website to report the issue, and to complete diary sheets to log the occurrences.

Further information can be found as per the website below:

Jon and Margaret are urging residents who are experiencing these issues to report the smells as and when they experience it.
