East London Armed Forces Champion for the Department of Work and Pensions

Jon Cruddas MP was recently contacted by the East London Armed Forces Champion for the Department of Work and Pensions.

The Armed Forces Champion is the first point of contact for Jobcentre Plus staff and welfare services including local authority, to advise on queries regarding individual armed forces cases – including serving personnel, service leavers and their families. They also develop and maintain joint working arrangements between Jobcentre Plus and the Armed Forces community - this includes military charities and businesses.

They focus specifically on the Jobcentre Plus support available to serving personnel, service leavers and their families. This can be housing, training and employment opportunities.  They work to raise the profile of the Armed Forces community in terms of their skills, knowledge and experience they can offer, and work with colleagues to ease some of the barriers to work.

The East London Armed Forces Champion and the team have offered their support for any veterans or families affected by the recent fires in The Borough. They can link to many British military charities and businesses who may be participants in the Armed Forces covenant.
