“I would like to congratulate Danny on his outstanding performance as Master of Ceremonies for the Olympic boxing bouts. The London 2012 Olympic Games were such a huge milestone in modern British sport and history and I am glad that Danny could be a part of it. It must have been an unforgettable experience that was well deserved. Danny and his work at Dagenham Boxing Club has really helped in terms of youth development in my constituency, working closely with the police and other organisations Danny and the Club have reached out and helped many disadvantaged young people in Dagenham and Rainham.”

Danny stated before the Olympics had started that the biggest thrill would come with the opportunity of announcing one of the Team GB boxers as Olympic Champion and winner of the Gold.

Danny added: “It could even be a Londoner – Heavyweight hope Anthony Joshua or even Martin Ward; a classy lightweight who started out at Dagenham Amateur Boxing Club, who have both targeted success in the summer,”

What a thrill it must have been for Danny to announce not one but two Team GB Olympic boxing champions, one silver and a bronze seeing Britain claim more boxing medals than any other nation during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Anthony Joshua claimed the Men’s Super Heavyweight Gold, Luke Campbell claimed the Men’s Bantam Weight Gold, Freddie Evans won Silver in the Men’s Welterweight and Anthony Ogogo took Bronze in the Men’s Middleweight.

Another boxing triumph saw Team GB’s Nicola Adams win the first ever Women’s Olympic Boxing Gold!
