Jon Cruddas, Member of Parliament for Dagenham and Rainham Incorporating South Hornchurch and Elm Park, held his most recent public consultation on the Cost of Living at Dunchurch house on Ford Lane, Dagenham.
One of the issues residents were concerned with locally was the price of travel, and in particular the taxi card scheme which helps older people use cabs to get from place to place. Residents said they were happy with the scheme in general but prices were too high. Other residents also stated that when they had used mini- cabs, as not part of the scheme, they felt they were charged more than they should be for short journeys.
Residents were pleased that construction had started on extra car parking spaces just outside Dunchurch House. Many of the resident's families were having problems parking when they visited, so the extra spaces should alleviate this problem.
The residents were very complimentary and pleased with their warden service and said how great a job the staff were doing there.
Jon Cruddas MP said "It was great to hear the positive feedback from the residents of Dunchurch house. The extra car parking spaces I hope will help when resident's families come to visit. Dunchurch house has a great atmosphere and this is in part because of the good work the wardens do. I will be raising the issues I heard regarding the transport and taxi costs with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham".
The public meeting at Dunchurch house was part of a series of continuing public meetings being held by Jon Cruddas MP to discuss the Cost of Living crisis.
