Citizens Advice Bureau offer free pension advice

Waltham Forest CAB are now offering free Pension Wise appointments across Barking & Dagenham and Havering, helping residents plan for their futures.

Following pension reforms on the 6th April people have greater freedoms on how they can use their pension pots. People reaching pension age will be able to take their money as a lump sum, take out an annuity or a mixture of both. Pension Wise is a new service being run by the government to help people understand what pension options are available to them.

The free face to face appointments last for around 45 minutes and will be tailored to the individual, taking into account retirement plans and the value of their pension. Guidance appointments are also available over the telephone.

Jon Cruddas commented: "This is a great opportunity for people approaching pension age to get sound advice on their future. I commend Waltham Forest CAB and Pension Wise for the work they are doing to help ensure that residents across Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge are getting to grips with pensions, which can more often than not be confusing."
