During 2016 local councillors and Labour Party members in Whalebone Ward Dagenham started campaigning to extend the number 86 bus route into Queen’s Hospital. There is currently no direct route for the people living in Chadwell Heath to get to Queen’s Hospital, leaving often elderly residents having to walk to the hospital from Romford Station. Whilst only 0.6 miles in distance, there are two busy junctions including a roundabout to navigate, with poorly lit underpasses which may be daunting for some residents.
The proposed closures to King Georges Hospital mean that Queen’s Hospital in Romford is the nearest NHS provision, so local councillor John White has launched this campaign to extend the 86 bus route from Romford Station to terminate in Queen’s Hospital; adding approx. two more stops to the journey.
There are already over 500 names on the petition but it needs over 1,000 to be considered by the council. Please add your name to the list by completing the online survey form below.

Once the petition has reached its target it will be presented to the council and Transport for London in a bid to pressure a change to the route, much like the campaign led in Bakring to extend the number 5 bus route.
