"It's great to see fresh investment in the area with more set to arrive over the next couple of years, giving our local economy the boost it needs. I hope the new (crazy or mini) golf at the Moby Dick is a huge success, and as a bit of a golfer I'm looking forward to getting down there myself at some point! With summer here and the weather improving it's the perfect time for families in the area to take advantage of the new course."

The number of unemployed claimants in Dagenham and Rainham constituency in May 2014 was 2,249. This represents a rate of 4.6% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 170th highest of the 650 UK constituencies. (1st = highest rate of unemployment, 650th = lowest rate of unemployment.)

The recent purchase of land at Ingrebourne Hill from the council in November has lead to the plan of extending an existing waste fill site. Residents and politicians from the community where skeptical of the land changing hands to Ingrebourne Valley Ltd from the start due to it being one of few untouched green spaces in the local area. It seems worries have been confirmed as plans are set to increase the land-fill site so far as to link with Hornchurch Country Park.

Arnolds Field in Rainham has recently come under scrutiny again with another rise in illegal fly tipping. In the past the issue has been raised with Havering Council’s StreetCare department by Jon Cruddas MP, Member of Parliament for Dagenham and Rainham. The area is somewhat notorious for dumping waste and this has become a rising concern for local residents.

The Dagenham and Rainham area has had many issues with fly tipping in the past but local MP Jon Cruddas has been responding quickly to concerns voiced to him by raising the issues with the council as and when they occur.

CHOICE Training which is based in Dagenham has recently announced its support of the research-led campaign to ‘Get Girls Plumbing’. The training college is offering four lucky ladies the chance to pursue a career in plumbing.

Female plumbers-to-be simply need to write 100 words outlining why they would like to win a free place on the course. The four candidates will then be selected by a judging panel made up from the college board of directors, the winners will be announced in time to start at the beginning of next term.

Chadwell Heath Community Centre needs your support!

Each year the local Sainsbury’s branch at Chadwell Heath chooses a charity partner to support for 12 months. The partner is decided upon by the public and all you have to do is get down to the Sainsbury’s in Chadwell Heath and fill out a nomination form.

The community centre offers many local services, acting as a children's centre, hosting activities for residents and still providing the area with its only library.
